Promotion Requirements

ZAPZ Prep Virtual Private School • Mastery‑Based Grade Advancement

ZAPZ Prep uses a mastery‑based promotion system. Students advance to the next grade level when they have demonstrated proficiency in required subjects, completed all assigned coursework, and met pacing and engagement expectations. Promotion is based on mastery — not seat time — ensuring every student is ready for the next level of learning.

Core Promotion Requirements

To be promoted to the next grade level, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete all required courses for their current grade level
  • Achieve 80% mastery or higher in each core subject
  • Demonstrate consistent engagement in live classes and ZAPZ Academy
  • Meet pacing expectations set by Advisors and Support Coaches
  • Participate in assessments and required projects
  • Receive Advisor approval for grade advancement

Grade‑Level Promotion Requirements

Elementary School (K–5)

  • Mastery in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies
  • Completion of all ZAPZ Academy modules
  • Active participation in live classes
  • Advisor review of academic growth

Middle School (6–8)

  • Mastery in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies
  • Completion of electives and enrichment courses
  • Demonstrated readiness for high school coursework
  • Advisor and Support Coach approval

High School (9–12)

  • Completion of required credits for each grade level
  • Mastery in core academic subjects
  • Completion of pathway‑aligned coursework
  • Progress toward graduation requirements
  • Advisor approval for grade advancement

Pacing & Engagement Expectations

ZAPZ Prep operates on a 12‑month school term. Students must maintain steady progress to remain on track.

  • Weekly assignment completion in ZAPZ Academy
  • Attendance in scheduled live classes
  • Regular Advisor check‑ins
  • Completion of pacing benchmarks
  • Active participation in assessments and projects

Intervention & Support

Students who fall behind receive targeted support to help them meet promotion requirements.

  • One‑on‑one Support Coach sessions
  • Small‑group intervention classes
  • Modified pacing plans
  • Additional mastery opportunities
  • Parent communication and progress updates

Final Promotion Approval

Promotion decisions are made by the student’s Advisor and the Academic Team based on mastery, pacing, engagement, and overall readiness for the next grade level.
