ZAPZ Prep Student Handbook

A complete guide to expectations, behavior, academics, technology, and student life at ZAPZ Prep Virtual School. This handbook explains what it means to be a ZAPZ student in a fully virtual, mastery‑based, wellness‑centered school.

1. Welcome to ZAPZ Prep

ZAPZ Prep is a private virtual school serving students in grades Pre‑K through 12. We combine live virtual instruction, ZAPZ Academy self‑paced modules, and a whole‑child wellness model to help every student thrive.

2. Student Expectations

  • Show up daily for live classes and ZAPZ Academy.
  • Keep your camera on unless you have an approved reason.
  • Participate actively in discussions, chat, and group work.
  • Use respectful language with staff and peers.
  • Follow digital citizenship rules in all online spaces.

3. Virtual Learning Environment

Students are expected to have a dedicated learning space, appropriate background, and working technology. See the Virtual Learning Space Checklist for detailed guidance.

4. Academics & Mastery

ZAPZ Prep uses a mastery‑based model. Students are expected to complete all ZAPZ Academy modules, attend live classes, and reach at least 80% mastery on key assessments.

5. Behavior & Conduct

All students must follow the ZAPZ Code of Conduct, including expectations for online behavior, chat use, camera use, and interactions with staff and peers.

6. Technology Use

Students must follow the Technology Use Policy when using school devices, Smart Box, CYAN Glasses, uMouse, and all online platforms.

7. Wellness & Support

Students have access to Advisors, Support Coaches, the Virtual SAFE Room, and daily wellness check‑ins. Asking for help is a sign of strength.

8. Attendance & Engagement

Attendance is based on live class participation, ZAPZ Academy progress, and advisor check‑ins. See the Attendance Policy for full details.

9. Academic Integrity

Students must complete their own work, use AI tools responsibly, and follow the Academic Integrity Policy for all assignments and assessments.
